Heaven knows the current economic climate isn't making it easy for anyone to plan swanky vacations or indulge in expensive hobbies abroad.
Forbes recently highlighted Meetup in an article entitled How to Take a Vacation You Can't Afford.
The article highlights many activites families and friends can engage in themselves, but what to do when you have very little time to yourself, or motivation for planning your own personal weekend excursion or activites?
I like Jana Miles response about using Meetup:
"I've found the things I seek on vacation right here at home at extremely reasonable costs once or twice a week," she said. It's not the same as truly getting away, she admits, "but I do feel like I've been on vacation."
Right on! The New York City page this week alone boasts Biking, Picnics, Reiki and Meditation Meetups, Tennis, Extreme Kickball, Salsa Dancing and my favorite: The May Sundae Social for all Ages! with The New York Chocolate and Dessert Meetup Group.
What's happening in your neighborhood?
