Who said the art of the mixtape is dead?
Wait. I don't think anyone actually said that, but if they had, I would present the following Meetup Group as a perfect example of some folks keeping it real.
Organizer Jordan started Mixtape Mixer in order to bring people together over their love of music, beer, and alliteration. He started the Mixtape Mixer Meetup Group in 2008 and countless mixes have since been exchanged.
Sort of like the Iron Cupcake Meetup Group I recently blogged, there's a different theme for each Meetup, like "Music from the year I graduated high school," "The I's of March," and "Thanksgiving." Members are encouraged to interpret the themes literally or figuratively. My favorite example was the "Under the covers" Meetup back in February, where Assistant Organizer Mike suggested that people "be literal (cover songs), be romantic or sexy, be winter."
I just recently discovered this Group and you can bet I'll be at their next Meetup. Wanna share your favorite songs or revitalize your own library? Check them out if you feel like joining us!
If you want to start your own Mixtape Meetup, use the topic "Mix Making" and stake out your spot on its site-wide topic page! It's a relatively new topic, so you can have lots of fun watching other people around the world follow your lead.

You look to young to remember mixed tapes...but nonetheless, this blog post rocks
