Meredith LeVind has an amazing Meetup Group homepage. She offered to share some tips with everyone on how she makes it more fun, compelling and interesting for her membership. Check out her wonderful guest blogger post below! -- Meetup HQ
Want your site to be a great advertisement for your Meetup Group?
Here are some excellent ways to define your Meetup's mission statement, showcase your activities and set expectations for new members:
*Make your homepage stand out! Change up your banner, Meetup Group photo or description monthly to feature holidays, fun themes or upcoming activities.
*Fill your homepage with information that not only explains what
your Meetup Group's about, but also that demonstrates what's
happening within your Meetup Group. Use pictures and logos in the sponsor box
to
advertise upcoming events, a question of the week, polls...or feature a
weekly newsletter. Fun features on your homepage will catch the attention of potential members, and help keep your current members
active and informed.
Making your homepage as informative as possible attracts the kinds
of members you want, and helps you set expectations as Organizer. It
also demonstrates how much you care about your Meetup Group!
Come and visit my 20s/30s Gals Meet New Pals Meetup in Raleigh anytime...and feel free to contact me directly if I can offer you more advice on how to make your homepage more Snazzy and Informative too!

Great post Meredith! Thanks so much for the tips!

Where's the "everything I learned, I learned from Dean Logan"? Just kidding. Meredith was a go getter from before I met her. I recently when on an joint event with Meredith's group to a Hot Air Balloon Festival. This was Meredith's idea and it was excellent! We got extremely lucky with the weather and it was just a good fun event. Keep up the good work Meredith.

Hi Dean! Nice to see you posting here.
Meredith is a pretty stellar Organizer. I'm not surprised that the two of you are in cahoots. :)

OK, so how do you make your banner stretch across the whole page? I make my banners exactly the size that lil box tells me I should, and they only take up the center 1/4. I make the graphic longer, but that doesn't really work, just stretches out the typing. It looks stupid and I don't know how to fix it!! i did search the Help and Organizers forum on this, but i just don't have much time to spend...
www.getoutphilly.org, that's what i'm talking about. I tried about 18 different modifications of that banner, none of them fit right.
Meredith's looks soo great, I'm jealous :)

Hi there Amy!
I checked out your Group, and I have a guess for what the trouble might be.
The banner space up there is 150 pixels tall, and 960 wide. Is the image you created taller than that? If it is, the site will just shrink it down and center it, instead of cutting it off.
If you adjust the image size with whatever you're using to make the image, that should help. (It's super cute, by the way!)
That's my guess. Let me know if that helps!

Love your Facebook and 'Question of the Week' sections in the Our Sponsors section :) No problem, I'm guilty of taking ideas from other websites myself...
Amy, you can make the banners any size you want. It will attempt to center it on the page. For example, mine is 980x150. Your logo is being imported as 404x150. Which app are you editing it in? Could you try resizing your logo in another program?

You can upload your logo on here as picture have it stretch ..
Like the others state, you must make a banner 150 pixels tall, and 960 wide in order to make it stretch over your site.
If this doesn't work for you.. I would be happy to help just send me the jpg of this logo!
