Say hello to Meetup Everywhere
at http://meetup.com/everywhere -- the best thing on the internet
(besides Meetup)… because now any
organization, company or movement can use the internet to get their
people OFF the internet.
It's free, open, and easy for your fans, followers, viewers, readers, users, customers, and/or supporters to Meetup everywhere with each other.
It's different and separate than Meetup Groups (our core, growing, profitable platform): A Meetup Group is started by a person who wants the world's best way to start and grow an amazing local group about anything. A Meetup Everywhere is started by an organization, company or movement who wants their people to start Meetups everywhere about something.
It's for mass meetups everywhere, big & small. A 3-person Meetup can be as amazing as 300-person Meetups.
It's better than the iPad because nothing is more awesome than what can happen when people connect. A tweet could launch a thousand Meetups.
It's easy. How does it work? Just go see what's happening already.

i like the idea of this and i've signed up for a couple of these because i wanted to meet people interested in the sites i read (seth godin, tech crunch). but when i signed up, all i got was a ton of unwanted emails.
"hey this is great," was posted over and over again — but no actual events were ever planned. when i went back to the pages to stop the emails, i felt like i'd never hear anything about the group ever again. i guess that's okay 'cuz it doesn't look like anything will come of either of those groups.

hey there 'good idea' - you can disable comments and messages via the following instructions: http://bit.ly/aoA3OS also, meetup everywhere is self-organized, so if you're not seeing an event near you, why not step up as organizer and add one?

Hi. I'm new to your Web site, and I'm utterly confounded. You say you're hiring, and I've been looking for 20 minutes to see where you are based (i.e., where I would work) - or do all employees telecommute? If you tell where your physical HQ is, it's well hidden. Needless to say, the first thing someone considering working for Meetup needs to know is whether it's in Mountain View, CA, Albuquerque, NM, Albany, NY, or Kolkata, India - unless it's irrelevant, in which case you need to explain why.
Furthermore, I see no "contact us" link, so I don't know how or who to ask this question; so I'm asking it here, the first real communications link I've found. Please advise or forward this to the relevant person. And please consider upgrading your hiring pages to clarify what working for Meetup actually entails beyond job descriptions: Location, hours, etc.

This looks like an outgrowth of Meetup Alliance. Is that correct? If so, why can I not link my existing meetup group with Meetup Everywhere? I would like a way for Meetup Everywhere to automatically update itself with meetups to reflect the calendar of normal meetup groups. This is why I was so looking forward to the official launch of Meetup Alliance, but now I'm disappointed. :-( Do you plan on releasing this feature some time down the line?

I like the idea, but it need better integration with Meetup in the cases where a Meetup Group is organizing the event. For example, give people the option to join the group and RSVP yes, no or maybe if the meetup everywhere event is also a meetup group event. If it is not tied to a meetup group, then how it is now is perfect.
You should design this where it can be used like it is now as a Meetup Light but also be able to integrate with Meetup Groups sponsoring an Meetup Everywhere event, to help grow the Meetup Group.

Also, I noticed that if you post a new topic, there is no way for other people to find it unless they have the exact URL.

Dale - I couldn't link directly to you, so I hope you see this. If you go to our jobs page either by clicking on the "Meetup is Hiring" link on the right of the blog page or the "We're Hiring" link at the bottom of any Meetup page, you'll see that at the very top, right above the pictures, we proudly state, "Meetup, the best start-up to work for in NYC, is growing, and we're looking for superstar talent to come join the team." So, if you or anyone you know is interested in working in NYC and is a match for one of our jobs, we'd love to hear from you!

Hi!
Your meetup calendars that you send out to us by e-mail every week are great. However, recently you have changed the format. I used to be able to scan the many events and find the ones that pertained to what I like because you all had highlighted them for me. But now they aren't. So I don't even scan them anymore, I just delete them. There are way too many events going on to look at all of them. Could you possibly go back to highlighting the ones that more closely pertained to what we like?
Thank you.

This is great, but I have mixed feelings about it. I can see this conflicting with the established meetups in the area, confusing people and splitting attendance across meetups for no other reason than people are not aware of the other. For example,
http://www.meetup.com/wordpress/
http://www.meetup.com/wordpress-atlanta/
There's an Atlanta location on the everywhere meetup but it is not related to the Atlanta WordPress meetup group. I've been attending that group and my only real complaint is I'd like to see more people attend. This (as implemented) will hurt that.
Also, what about trademark owners? If I create a meetup about Acme Corp, can they get control of it? They should be able to, IMO, maybe sharing it with the creator giving them an incentive to help market products and services and possibly create a paying social media role for themselves.

I guess I don't really understand the purpose of Meetup Everywhere and how it is supposed to help collaboration and communication. I am perplexed with the functionality and user friendliness. I created a group to see if that would help my understanding and it doesn't. Here are my questions.
1) I do not see "search" functionality for people to find specific Meetups topics ... how are people supposed to find a Meetup to create one from there?
2) How am I supposed to access the group I created? There is no login feature or search feature. I saved the email I was sent which is the only way I can access my page. http://www.meetup.com/personaltransformation/14064/t/bn1_l1/
It would be appreciated if someone could educate me on the functionality of this application. Thank you.

In two thousand and two, the United States rose to the quarterfinals. Taking up to the quarter-final was an spectacular victory. Eventually the U.S. team are able to move a step further and accomplish the semifinals or even have itself to the cup. If you want to boost your well liked nation and then I would suggest you find your unique football shirts and get pleasure from your favourite team play.

Both Odom and Collison received technical fouls, with Odom saying had that been former LA Laker teammate Ron Artest setting such.

This is really the great way you discuss this kind of topic. Good job.
