Following a brief hiatus, Organizer of the Week is back! Appropriately enough, with a profile of a Meetup that could cure the worst case of writer's block....
Congratulations to Rennie Saunders, our newest Organizer of the Week! Before his sure-fire concept at keeping the pen to the page goes global, we're saluting his wonderful Meetup Group, appropriately called "Shut up and Write!" for it's accomplishments so far. His format is simple and effective, and his calendar represents the consistency and focus every writer needs to succeed.
I'm looking forward to seeing how his upcoming SF Marathon goes. Member Nicole Gardiner says:
"It gets you to set aside an hour a week (or more) to get out of your routine and into a designated place for writing. The added peer pressure of other people writing too keeps you focused. Sitting down with the focus and will to write is hard - and this takes that off your shoulders. It's a great way to hold yourself accountable - without having an assignment or sharing or even talking if you don't want to."
Rennie has been running this Meetup with the support of several Assistant Organizers, and the driving force of his own personal goals and aspirations behind him too. It's a winning combination.
