What are Amazon Payments?
Amazon Payments is a way for people to securely send and receive money. Read more about Amazon Payments.
On Meetup.com it is a way for organizers to charge members to attend their Meetups - to cover their costs, pay for venues, or generally make their Meetup Groups strong organizations.
Are Amazon Payments optional?
Amazon Payments are completely up to your organizer!
How much does it cost to use Amazon Payments?
Setting
up an Amazon Payments Account or an Amazon Payments Business Account is
free. To pay for a Meetup with Amazon Payments, there are transaction
fees. Learn more about fees.
Why did Meetup integrate with Amazon Payments?
Meetup HQ wanted to make it easier for Organizers to charge their
members to attend their Meetups - it's not easy organizing Meetups and
sometimes people need help: to cover their costs, reserve a venue,
whatever! So we integrated with Amazon Payments to give Organizers and
members more options. If you use PayPal you can continue to do so. We
didn't change how PayPal works.
With Amazon Payments Organizers will be able to:
1. Require that members pay in order to rsvp. We have learned from Organizers that if members pay to RSVP, they are more likely to show up
2. Both members and Organizers will get to see detailed transaction information on the Meetup.com site
3. Refunds are super simple with just one click
4. If Organizers don't select the "require payment to RSVP" option, Organizers will be able to manually add offline payments.
How do I set up an Amazon Payments account?
You can do it on the Amazon Payments
website. Or here's the simpler way that Meetup HQ recommends: just RSVP
for your Meetup and follow the prompts you see on the screen.
Who can pay for a Meetup using Amazon Payments?
Anyone with a credit card or an Amazon Payments account.
I already have an Amazon account. Can I use it?
Yep. Just sign in with that account when it’s time to pay your Organizer.
How come sometimes a payment is processed right away and other time it isn't?
This is likely due to delays with the credit card processor. We apologize for the delay.
