Want your site to be a great advertisement for your Meetup Group? Want to be able define your Meetup's mission statement, activities or rules for new members?
Harness the power of your 'About'
page to present the image that you want for your Meetup Group.
Here's what one of our Meetup Organizers of the Week had to say about it --
Joel Ordesky of the L.A. ExecTec Meetup:
Make your Meetup site as interesting as possible. Fill your about page with information that not only explains your group but resonates with your passion for the subject. It is very easy to join a Meetup group online but it takes real effort to commit to going to a meeting and actually showing up. Your Meetup site must convince some not only to RSVP but also to actually take the initiative and show up. Pictures and Logos help catch potential visitors attention. Be creative and post information that your potential group members will find useful and inspirational.
Some Examples of Great About Pages
Both of these use photos that capture the spirit of their Meetup Group, and provide other information that would be pertinent to new members:
- Houston Italian Language Meetup -- Note how Leah Beth added links and resources of interest to her members.
- The New York City Archery Meetup Group - Deidre believes you should "Make your about page informative enough so that you attract the kind of potential members you want and they understand what your expectations are as the Organizer." Check out her 'Is this the right Meetup Group for you' section.
- The Miami Bellydance Meetup Group
-- Medina has everything on her About page! It sets expectations and helps potential members understand what her Meetup's all about through photos,
newsletters, videos and more.
How Do You Edit Your About Page:
*Click on the 'About' link on the left nav of your Meetup Group homepage.
*Click 'Edit this page' to add content.
*Customize it! Use the toolbar at the top of the page.
