Hope you'll join us!
Sincerely,
Matt
After inviting your friends, extend a friendly welcome to the people on the Waiting List. If you send them a personalized message, they're twice as likely to join. Why? Because it shows that you're an active, enthusiastic Organizer who cares!
To invite the people on the Waiting Lists:
- Go to your Meetup group's Our Home Page and click "Promote!".
- Click the "Invite Meetup members".
- Click "Invite XYZ to join your group" next to a member, compose your message, and click "SEND".

Tell people what your Meetup group is all about, what you want to achieve and what members can expect. All in a fun and welcoming tone. People like things that are fun and welcoming.
For example, Jonathan Durston wrote this description for his group, The Chicagoland Cycling Meetup Group, :
Casual Rides for fun all over the Chicagoland area. See great neighborhoods, beautiful scenery and meet great people too! Short rides are 20-25 miles and long rides are 40-50 miles. We go 8-12 mph avg. We ride on limestone and asphalt trails.
A simple, short description tells prospective members what your Meetup is all about and gets the right ones to join!
To edit your Group Description:
- Click 'Basic info'
- In the "Meetup Group description" section, tell us awesome things about your group!
- Click 'SUBMIT' at the bottom of the page
