Custom email lists

We hear from Organizers that they’d like an easier way to email certain groups of people within their Meetup Group. Now, Organizers can create custom lists of members to send an email to instead of everyone in the Meetup Group.

For example, if you’re an Organizer of a mountain biking Meetup Group with members of different skill levels, you can make a ‘Beginners List’ and an ‘Advanced List’. This way you can send an email to just the members of a custom list instead of the entire Meetup Group.

Some things to note:

  • Only Organizers and Assistant Organizers can create, edit and delete custom lists.
  • emails from custom lists are sent ‘from’ the sender and the email address the message is from is their own
  • As of now, replies can only go to the sender - custom lists are NOT mailing lists

To create a custom list, click on ‘Email Members’.

Click ‘new list’ and a pop up window will appear where you can create a new custom list!

We hope this will enable you to send more targeted, relevant emails and help you in managing diverse sets of members.

If you’ve got feedback, let us know!
