Track your Meetup Group with Google Analytics!

A lot of you have asked for the ability to track visitors and page views to your Meetup Group, and now you can! We’ve set up a way to plug the Meetup Groups you organize into Google’s free Analytics platform.

I’ve been looking at my group and the information is really fascinating. Learn how many page views you get, what locations your visitors are from, what pages they’re looking at, when they visit, and much more. See which of your events gets the most traffic, or if your emails send a lot of people to the site. One of the most interesting - and useful - things I’ve found is seeing what words people search for on Google to get to your Meetup Group. This could help you write a compelling group description and tag your Meetup Group more effectively.

Setting it up isn’t too complex: it basically consists of signing up for Google Analytics, getting their special code, and then inputting that code into your Meetup Group’s group settings. Read full detailed instructions here. And keep in mind that there can be a day-or-two delay with Google’s reporting.

Let us know what you think and what creative uses you find!
