Community & Environment: Meetup Highlight
Meetup can be a useful tool for parks and educational organizations. The California Native Plant Society - East Bay Chapter Meetup is a great example of a successful Meetup Group that complements a larger organization. Organizer Frances shared how her Meetup Group got started:
"Last year, I approached the East Bay Chapter about using Meetup to make available to a wider audience the chapter’s hikes, lectures and other activities. The participation at field trips has increased, and the Meetup members seem to really enjoy the activities."
Hikers learn about the plants they spot along the trails and develop a greater appreciation for native plant life. “Basically, it feels like a long, overdue marriage between experts who have the rare ability to identify what you see on hikes, and the general public which is hungry to learn more.”
What about you? Can you identify the plants from their most recent hike?
